Ransom Canyon
For those who miss "Yellowstone" but can't stand its brutality. Romance, family secrets, and Texas landscapes — all are present, but without the tension and scale. It's watchable if you're not expecting a masterpiece.
Premiere on Netflix — April 17, 2025. The action takes place in the Texas town of Ransom Canyon, where three rancher dynasties fight for land, legacy, and loved ones. At the center is Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), a widower slowly emerging from grief after the death of his wife and son. His only light is Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly), the owner of the local dance hall and the best friend of the deceased. Their relationship is a will-they-won't-they stretched throughout the season. In parallel, there’s a youth storyline: good girl Lauren, her wealthy boyfriend Reed, and the boy "from the wrong side of the tracks" Lucas. Behind the scenes is the Austin Water & Power corporation, which wants to buy land for a pipeline. Format — 10 episodes of ~60 minutes. Tone — a soap opera in cowboy hats: many subplots, few conclusions, beautiful landscapes of New Mexico. If you enjoy romance combined with scenery rather than tension — go for it.
