Description

Netflix and Toho present an eight-episode remake of the legendary tokusatsu "Gas Man No. 1" (1960) by Ishiro Honda — premiere on July 2, 2026. Detective Okamoto Kenji (Shun Oguri) investigates a series of murders where the criminal transforms into gas and penetrates through any barriers. Behind these terrorist acts lies a secret government project that uses vulnerable people as test subjects. The atmosphere is Japanese noir on steroids: dark neon streets of Tokyo, paranoid conspiracy theories, and action scenes at the level of a Hollywood blockbuster. Format — 8 episodes, each a cinematic thriller with large-scale VFX from Shirogumi (Oscar-winning studio). Comparison: if "Parasite" met "The Dark Knight" in Tokyo, and then both were directed by Bong Joon-ho — this is roughly what you would get.
