Good books often make for good series and feature films, although there are some differences from the original. It gets even better if the source book is at least partially autobiographical and based on the life of the author. The series "Shantaram" is a fall release from Apple TV+, which gained its fans from the very first episode. The plot is dynamic, the acting is excellent, the only thing that worries viewers is the uncertainty about when to expect "Shantaram" season 2.
What is the series "Shantaram" about?
The Cold War, the arms race, Margaret Thatcher's rise to the position of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, famine in Ethiopia. Such events were happening in the world in the 1980s, but against the backdrop of all these events unfolded the lives of individual people. One of them was Lin Ford. His life was not easy, it all started with an addiction to alcoholic beverages and consciousness-altering substances. These addictions destroyed his marriage and prevented him from participating in raising his own child. And then everything was quite banal – he robbed banks and, in the end, got caught, ending up behind bars for two long decades.
But, fortunately for Lin, he spent only three years in an Australian prison, and then managed to escape. Of course, it would be foolish to stay in Australia, and the guy heads far away, to India. Here he gets the chance to start life anew. Thus, after some time, he becomes the manager of a clinic, engages in smuggling, and even acts in films. But even here he often finds himself in difficult situations, which the viewer will observe.
