Plot
Boris Godunov was the first tsar elected by the people. The Rurik dynasty had ended, and it was urgently necessary to choose a new head of state. It is rumored that Godunov's wife took a personal role in ensuring that Ivan the Terrible's son tragically died, which would open the way for her husband to power. The ambitious woman hoped that everything would change for the better when her husband took the throne.

However, history unfolded in such a way that the main character was soon hated by the people, as the country faced a series of acute problems and troubles, including mass famine due to crop failure, which claimed a huge number of lives. All this and many other external factors affected the people's perception of the tsar, leaving the main character disheartened. He did not know what to do in such a difficult situation and seemed ready to give up his place. But the cunning wife was not going to retreat from her plans, as she hoped to use power for her own purposes.
Due to the problems that arose, the entire Godunov family found it difficult, as people were now ready to revolt at any moment to take revenge on the monarchs. Boris urgently needed to implement reforms and take measures; otherwise, the consequences could be dire.
Main Characters

Boris Godunov — a nobleman close to the court of Ivan the Terrible, who, with the help of his wife, managed to become the first elected tsar. His contemporaries said that he was an intelligent, cunning, and calculating person who knew how to stay in the shadows when necessary. During his reign, terrible problems began in the state, which even the monarch could not prevent.
Maria Skuratova-Belskaya — the lawful wife of Tsar Boris. As queen, she intended to use power for personal purposes, which is why she helped her husband build political intrigues and schemes. A beautiful and cunning woman skillfully manipulated her husband and made a significant contribution to his rise to power.
Ivan the Terrible — a cruel ruler known primarily for numerous public executions. He also killed his own son in a fit of rage.
Malyuta Skuratov — the father of Queen Maria, who skillfully led the oprichniki during the reign of Ivan the Terrible.
