Plot of the series
This television series describes the times when the territory now known as Great Britain was a place of constant clashes and wars between the Vikings and Saxons. By siding with the Saxons and fighting for them, Uhtred receives neither gratitude nor recognition. His people consider him a stranger and do not trust him, as he grew up among the Vikings, their fiercest enemies.
Main characters
Uhtred of Bebbanburg – the main character of this television series, who is a hereditary alderman of the castle, responsible for it and its inhabitants. He was captured during the battle for the castle at a young age and was raised by his enemies. The main character constantly struggles between his attachment to the people among whom he grew up and his sense of duty to his homeland, where he was born and where all his ancestors were raised.
King Alfred – a prototype of a real historical figure who ruled the Anglo-Saxon territories and was the first in the history of these lands to proclaim himself King of England.
Guthrum – a renowned Viking-Dane military leader who has repeatedly proven his bravery and valor in battles.
