What is the series Cathedral season 2 about?
It is precisely that very year, the transition from the 17th century to the 18th century, if written in Arabic numerals, it is the year 1700. Peter the First is already ruling in the Russian state, recently crowned as tsar and confidently moving towards emperorship. Russia is shaking from the reforms of the first emperor, ancient foundations are covered with dust, and new orders come to replace them. Just think of the shaved boyars! But all this is happening somewhere far away, in the capital, while here, everything remains the same.

Vanya was born a serf. From a young age, he worked tirelessly, and it is no wonder given his position and the number of people in his family. However, he did differ from most of his peers in one respect. He fell in love, not with just anyone, but with the daughter of a landowner. Serfdom, or more precisely, the lack of rights, did not allow him to resolve this issue in any way; how can a serf marry his mistress?

Even the church, represented by the local priest, directly and unequivocally stated - "every cricket knows its own place." In complete turmoil, Starshov renounces the church, deciding to take his fate into his own hands. He heard that His Imperial Majesty Peter is waging war against the Swedes. He knows that if he learns, he can earn a rank in the army.

He believes that everything he has planned will come to fruition if he puts in enough effort and hard work, so who better than a former serf to do this, if all he knows from infancy is effort and hard work? And indeed, if he rises and earns hereditary nobility, he can lead Maria to the altar, then no one will say that "he didn't come from good stock, it's not allowed."

Ivan Starshov - a young man born into a family of serfs, who fell in love with the daughter of a local landowner. To fulfill his desire, he violates his master's serfdom by joining the Preobrazhensky Regiment. The role is played by Sergey Marin.
Maria - a princess, the daughter of Prince Badarin. The object of the main character's affection and the reason for his elevation to noble status. The role is played by Svetlana Ivanova.
Peter - the last Russian tsar and, subsequently, the first emperor of all Russia. The man who cut a window into Europe wherever he wished. The founder and builder of St. Petersburg, named after him. The role is played by Maxim Averin.
Catherine - the widow of Johann Kruse, captured by the Russian army during the storming of Marienburg. She later becomes the wife of Peter the Great, after whose death she is crowned as Catherine the First. The role is played by Yulia Snigir.
