The Mentalist

Any religion teaches us that there is something greater than ourselves. Even the joking religion of the Pasta Monster implies this, not to mention Catholics and others like them. But the belief in the otherworldly and supernatural is strong, and even the staunch materialists like the founders of the Soviet Union could not eradicate it. They too had their Kashpirovskys and Chumaks.

What is the series The Mentalist about?
Where can an ordinary psychic go in our enlightened times? The only option left is television; the grandmasters of extrasensory perception have proven this. After passing the casting for the show "Battle of the Magicians," Lera successfully goes through all the challenges set by the filming crew. It seems that fame and recognition are at her fingertips, a life of comfort and abundance awaits, but fate has its own plans for her: in the last task, to find a person from a photograph, she discovers that the girl was brutally murdered and thrown into a well. Give up? No way. Remain silent? Even more so.

"Lilith," the stage name she chose for herself, leads the filming crew to that very ill-fated well. The body is retrieved, the shooting of the episode quickly wraps up, and Lera is called in for questioning. Magic is magic, extrasensory perception is extrasensory perception, but a corpse in a well is a crime, and how she knows about it is quite the question. A rather unpleasant one, from the perspective of law enforcement.

Lera, as a law-abiding citizen, arrives at the police station, where she candidly shares the time of death, the method of murder, the crime scene, and even the name and address of the killer, but she encounters general skepticism, fueled by the materialistic views prevalent among the police officers. Only one person took her words seriously, Captain Roshchin. And that’s only because he himself had once encountered manifestations of such powers.

The Mentalist – who is who?
Lera is a nationally known psychic, thanks to her participation in a popular show. She shows and tells the investigation who, when, and why committed the crime. The role is played by Alexandra Vlasova.
Roshchin is a justice captain, the first to heed Lilith's words. He has his own personal reasons for doing so, which he keeps hidden from everyone. He builds the evidence base based on Lera's words. The role is played by Evgeny Morozov.
