For fans of Diane Morgan and British dry humor — a must watch. If you cried over "Motherland" and laughed at "Philomena Cunk" — this is for you. "Grief comedy" sounds like an oxymoron, but Morgan proves it's possible.
Premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer — July 17, 2026. 2029. Sue is a widow, her husband David died a year and a half ago, and their only son Michael is moving out again to save his marriage. As a gift, he leaves Sue a robot — an outdated model AnnDroid Z58/100 Basic Eldercare, which Sue names Linda. Linda is designed to care for the elderly: to keep company, monitor health, and not ask unnecessary questions. But her literal understanding of instructions and Diane Morgan's deadpan intonation turn every attempt to help into a disaster — from stealing a package at a charity shop to a taser incident at a Brazilian jiu-jitsu ceremony. Meanwhile, Michael loses his job due to a robot colleague, learns about infertility, and realizes he cannot be the father of his wife's child. The format is 6 episodes of ~30 minutes, a sitcom with a tragic undertone. The Guardian gave it 5 stars, calling it "wonderfully fresh and funny." If you like when robots are more human than people, and laughter comes from pain — go for it.
