The Guardian

Sometimes, for one's own peace of mind, it's better not to try to uncover someone else's secret. But often this goes against the principles of a person who wants to understand an unclear situation. And if this sore is not opened, it may be even worse, similar to medicine, when a limb has to be amputated. This is vividly depicted in the series "The Guardian" by Alexey Bistritsky.
What is the series "The Guardian" about?
In a small town, Misha and Ruslan grew up as rascals. They chased pigeons in their free time from school, read, laughed, and played pranks until it was time to pay their debt to the Motherland. The two young men served in the military and realized that this was what they wanted to do, what their souls longed for. Mikhail's father, Colonel of Police Nikolai Tsarev, did a lot for this. One went into special forces and disappeared in distant lands, catching bandits and other criminal elements, while the other joined the National Guard, rising to the rank of major.

Time flies, and a serious anniversary has come for the father, a round date that needs to be honored. He returned home, met his childhood friend, and went to his father's celebration. However, something strange happens. His father, a model of crystal honesty and order, is arrested right from the festive table, accused of some incomprehensible heresy. Allegedly, using his position in the ranks of the National Guard, he imposed additional taxes on all entrepreneurs in the city, acting according to all the cheerful principles of the merry nineties. Moreover, these taxes are paid directly to him, not to the state.
Neither Ruslan nor Mikhail can understand how this is possible, nor do they understand the accuser, Borisoglebskaya. But if there is an accusation, it means something is happening, and it needs to be figured out. The hero decides to join his father's unit to study this situation from the inside and understand where the wind is blowing from. But the longer he works, the deeper he digs into the facts, the more he dislikes them, and he often regrets not choosing to remain in ignorance.
