Youku launched "Cang Yuan Tu" (Лазурное наследие) in summer 2023 — a donghua (Chinese anime) based on the novel "I Eat Tomatoes," which has become one of the most popular projects on the platform in just two years. The premiere on June 22 introduces viewers to Meng Chuan, a young man who witnesses his mother's murder by demons, vowing to take revenge and enrolling in the Mirror Lake Academy to master the way of the sword and cultivation.
The series operates on the "wuxia" mechanics — Chinese fantasy with martial arts, where characters develop internal energy (qi) and refine combat techniques. The tone is epic and motivating: Meng Chuan's journey transforms him from an ordinary youth into a master who destroys demons and protects humanity. The format includes 3 seasons (66+ episodes), featuring special arcs "Dongning Prefecture" and "Yuanchu Mountain."
