Netflix will release the Spanish thriller "Clans of Galicia" in summer 2024, which became the most-watched non-English series on the platform in its first week. The premiere on June 21 opens the story of Ana — a lawyer who infiltrates a Galician drug cartel to take revenge after her father's murder, but falls in love with the son of the clan leader, Daniel.
The series is created by screenwriter Jorge Guerricaechevarría ("The Crown," "Narcos") and operates at the intersection of crime drama and romantic tragedy. The tone is dark and damp, like Galicia itself: there are no bright lights of Madrid, only misty coastlines, fishing villages, and violence passed down through generations. The format of the first season is 8 episodes, with the second season set to release on April 3, 2026, featuring a three-year time jump.
