Ye Li, the eldest daughter of the Ye family and heir to the Lishan clan, spent eight years in captivity in the mountains. To leave Lishan, she agrees to a marriage by decree of the dowager empress — with the wheelchair-bound Mo Xuyiao, heir to a ruined princely house. On the wedding day, her younger sister Ye Ying marries Mo Jingli — the "opera prince" with a bad reputation. Ye Li hides her true identity and secretly plots revenge, eliminating officials involved in the downfall of her clan. Mo Xuyiao, in turn, is also driven by a thirst for vengeance. Their marriage begins as a union of two avengers but gradually evolves into trust and love.
